Forrest Jones' grandparents and father came from Wales and emmigrated to the U.S. in 1867. They first went to Blackhawk, where they worked in the gold mines. After an accident which left him unable to mine, his grandfather moved to Sunshine in 1876 and began ranching. Forrest's father Edward married in 1888 and Forrest was born in 1897 at Sunshine, where he spent his entire life. From the description of Forrest Jones papers 1888-1978. (Boulder Public Library).
